Today is the halfway mark of my time here with Disney.
I am exactly halfway through my program.
Time check; it has been 68 days since i left Singapore.
and yes, 68 more days remain before my program ends. though it would be more than 68 days before i return to Singapore soil.
on one train of thought, so much has happened and i have experienced so much already during this 68 days. and there is yet another 68 days to come, where i can double the experience.
but on another train of thought, things are becoming routine and its more or less the same thing.
so actually i would expect to experience less new things in the next half than the first half.
but i would never know, what God may have in store for me.
i am confident there will still be much changes to take place, and more new experiences to come.

today at work, my coordinator went crazy. i dont know what happened to him, he is usually a really nice guy and he even attended the Mickey's christmas party in MK as a guest yesterday, with his friends. its funny to have your coordinator one day becoming your guest another day.
Today, he went extra hard on all the people doing closing. nitpikcing to the highest degree, and even giving us new tasks that closers are not normally supposed to do, such as scrubbing off the sauce stains from the underside of trash cans. we had to stay on for almost an hour extra before he finally let us go. but before we left, he actually told us all to help ourselves to the leftover cookies and carror cakes in the cooler! he's really gone crazy - he doesnt even have the authrority to authorize us taking the cookies and cakes, which would be normally be stealing of restaurant property. but we didnt care; all of us just rushed to grab some desserts and soon the trays were all empty. i finally got to try the carrot cake only now, even after seeing them everyday. its nice to have your coordinator go crazy sometimes. i hope he'll be fine soon.

Amazing Race: Disney world

The time was 3.25. I had just come out of the learning center and went to the bus stop at Vista Way after doing an assignment; which was not finished, but i had to go to catch the 3.29 A bus to work. the bus would actually arrive at the magic kingdom at least half an hour before my shift at 4.30. but it happens that the next A bus to is during the shift-change period, so the next bus would take a long break at Vista Way before heading to MK and if i were to take that bus, i would be late.

So i turned up at the bus station on time. a few minutes spare of 3.29. but i did not see any A bus docked there like it usually would before leaving in a few minutes. i did however, see a bus in the A bus spot which had the sign "not in service" put up. i decided to honor the notice and did not board the bus. i saw another A bus behind, and i tried to board. the driver told me to wait a few minutes as checks was ongoing. when it was done, it went over to take the A bus spot where the bus supposedly 'not in service' was and just left. i tried going up the bus again, and this time the driver told me, "you wont wanna go up now. this bus aint leaving till another 40 mins time..."

i was shocked and confused. after a whole load of query and explainations, i discovered that the 'not in service' bus was actually the 3.29 A bus, and it was well in service! i ought to be so pissed with that stupid driver who doesnt even know how to display the correct signs. now i would have to take the next bus in 40 mins which would surely get me late.

or maybe not. i had to take the chance on an alternative tedious route which i had never tried before, but seemed feasible and get me there on time. the plan was to take the C bus to the Epcot, then take a shuttle bus from there to the magic kingdom.

So off i went in the C bus, arriving at Epcot at 3.55. not as time effective as i thought... 35 minutes remaining to get to my workplace. and i was only at the cast member entrance. from there, i had to run to the main entrance of Epcot to supposedly take the bus. that was when i realised that i could take the monorail instead which would be much faster! a blessed relief.

at 4.05 i boarded the monorail at Epcot. but it was not going straight to MK; it would stop at TTC near MK, and i would have to change monorail. aint sounding so good now. the minutes felt like hours as i watched the monorail make its way across, and wishing it would speed up.

as i arrived at TTC at 4.15, i noticed the monorail headed for MK had just arrived too. it was just a few metres away, but to get inside, i would have to go down the station, and up the other entrance.
the doors opened and everyone got out. as i rushed out towards the other monorail, i found my path being blocked my a fat american and his kid, walking slowly and totally oblivous to the people behind him. i shouted 'excuse me!', and it took him a few seconds to make way. then i dashed over to the MK monorail and just as i was a few metres away, the doors closed and it went off! frustration level was extremely high now.

taking a minute to cool down, i then decided to give up and intercept the A bus which would get me late; from TTC. but just as i was going out of the station, the next monorail arrived. revert to original plan. so at 4.18, i was on the monorail to MK.

i was totally not confident of making it in time. after reaching MK, i would still have to make my way to Pecos Bills, somehow within 12 minutes time.
monorail reached magic kingdom at 4.24. 6 minutes remaining. i ran from the monorail station to the main entrance, swiped my card, passed through security check, and by then the time was 4.26. i ran as fast as i could, breezing my way down main street USA, past the crowd of more fat americans but somehow maneouvering my way past and between them, then into liberty square and then frontierland. dashed into Pecos Bills and the onstage entrance where i am not allowed to be without my full costume but i just couldnt be bothered.

and at exactly 4.30, i reached the CDS terminal and clocked in.

I MADE IT! JUST ON TIME!!

whew. what an unforgettable adventure.

ive come this far.

oops, i did it again... this the second time i fell asleep accidentally while using the laptop on my bed, and in my sleep i kicked the laptop off the bed, landed in quite an awkward position... thankfully its still all right. ive been tired lately.

Whats up? this blog is so dead. i thought it should be better when im away over here, but its the other way round. really, it seems like i have slacked off from life.
basically that means, life here getting more boring and meaningless.

time really flies. by the end of this week, i would have been here for 2 months already!
its like oh my gosh, i look back and realise that so many days has passed since i last did a certain thing or another, and i wonder where has all the time in between went to. seriously, this monotony and monochromity of my life here has destroyed the value and essence of time.
maybe a to-do list with deadlines would do me alot of good.

this is especially so when a week is no longer a cycle, but a string of undifffentiated days interlinked with other weeks, each being 7 days long. ie, a week is now merely a unit of time measurement.

recent events?

halloween horror nights at universal studios! ticket was rather expensive and not worth considering we spent half the time waiting in queue to get into the attraction, especially for SAW which took almost an hour. the random movies skit was really good though. a very different experience, but i wouldnt say its very good. i would choose disney hollywood studios over it.

Give Kids the World halloween party, at GKTW village. i really like the village, it has the very fairy taleish and kiddy feel but that is different from magic kingdom. that was a volunteer activity i have to do to write about it in my assignment (so lame, making it compulsory to volunteer). i think the party and the task i did during the event was boring. party was too short and not enough meaning. my task... just picking up bean bags so that the next kid can throw again. haha. but to tell the truth, i think the GKTW village is a very nice place that i would love to spend more time at. if only there would be better activities...

spotlight on fairytale weddings, learning opportunity. this time not held at disney university, but at the wedding pavilion. great opportunity to explore the neigbouring area to the magic kingdom. never knew this side of it, and realised it is extremely beautiful - the Grand Floridian resort, the wedding pavilion and the surroundings. it was a good time for some quiet reflection and relaxation, sitting on the floating bench and sleeping under an umbrella on the beach. its a very dreamy place to get married, but you really gotta be dreaming when the cost could come up to like $100,000!

looking at the time ahead, things arent seeming to get better. i am still getting the worst schedules ever like the past 3 weeks. everyday i work the closing or near-closing shifts, and is always only 6 hours per day. its like already going into mid november! surely it should be busier now! surely there must be some other factor somewhere, messing it all up. i am getting sick and tired of this crappy schedules.
and then also came the big disappointment about not being able to go for the royal caribbean cruise to Bahamas, when some of my friends are, and most have gone already.

this program is a school of hard knocks. hopefully the knocking awakes me to good purpose, and not injuring me instead. as revealed during the reflection, the opportunities gone and regrets i have during this program is just like a handful of stones from the wedding pavilion tossed into the lake, with still so much more remaining.
