Lost Art

So this is the longest break ive taken from blogging so far. for 2 months i forgot about it; only when i remember, i am not able to blog. and for another month i tried to blog, but always got carried away by other things. i am playing too much, really.

It seems like blogging is gradually becoming a lost art. Still remember when i first started blogging 5 years ago, so many of my friends would be visiting my blog as regularly as following on twitter. Many would also have their own blogs, which i could spend hours daily reading. the chatbox would also have quite a few posts; many as i would prefer, relating to my blog posts. those were the days (not too long ago) when blogging was the in thing.

Within a year or so, one by one, people started falling out of blogging practice - some posting as infrequently as once a month or two, some putting up a one-liner post once a while just to show its not dead, and some abandoning it completely. the 'islands' for blog hopping sank one by one, leaving only a few faithful ones. thus withered my once hobby of blog hopping; hampered by the expectation to see the same latest post from a month ago.
viewership at each blog (including mine) dropped significantly over time, and consequently i lost drive in investing time for interesting, colourful posts.

In the advent of enlisting into national service, time and opportunity for blogging has been significantly reduced. targeted frequency of blogging in this desolate blog whose chatbox is overrun by viral spammers and no human traces, is set at once a month.

But im not about to just give up on my blog. even if noone ever sees it but myself, thats good enough. I mean, isnt that just as good as a diary then? except that every entry in this treasure cove of memories is immortalised into the world wide web, and wont likely end up lost in a stack of books that someone packs away for you, or ruined by a coffee spill. it is such a privilege to be able to look back on any period back in time, and have all the memories and thoughts brought back again. This blog is my 5-year-collection diary.

Really hope that blogger doesnt shut down, though.
