I have returned...
this week has been quite an interesting one. There were a few unfortunate events, plus a number of things that added on to it. But i thank God that things seem much better now.
July2. The comp had to be sent for servicing. again. the comp is prolly gettin old so its having alot of problems. yet my parents refuse to buy a new 1.
July3. Since there was nth much to do at home and i thought there would still be time to finish my hw when i get back, i went to check out the english summer camp. It seemed like a long time since i been to st andrew village, but when i got there i felt like i was there yesterday. It was nice to revive some memories of the RACE camp. We were forced to interact with some 24 vietnamese kids through much ice breakers, play some games and have a tea break. The vietnamese names are really hard to remember and pronounce, which was both a boon and bane. For the wacko game, i was partnered with some girl with a very difficult name. So i just sat back n relax cos no1 called her. There was nothing else to do after tea break so i went home. Joel Pang told me to take 8 to toa payoh interchange, then take 153 all the way home. But i got to the interchange and there is no 153. Stupid Joel lied to me!! So i had to look at the list of available destinations and the nearest was commonwealth ave, by taking 145. But the bus turned one big round n i ended up having to go past city hall, chinatown and harbour front. The long bus ride was an extreme torture. Lack of oxygen cos of the crowd during the peak hour and the rough ride gave me a serious headache. There was no space for me to stretch and my butt was burning. There were 2 fat indian women sitting in front of me who got up at the same place and alighted at redhill. at first they were talking non stop but halfway thru they were silenced. After getting off at commonwealth, i still had to walk all the way home. i left SAV at 5.15. by the time i got home it was alr 8. I was just in time to pick up the phone. my dad called home to check if i returned. i found out he had been locked outta the house for 1h 40mins cos he dint bring keys. Dinner was not prepared so we had a late dinner at 8.45. Since i was so tired i had no choice but to sleep with a full stomach and grow fatter.
July5. Went to school as usual. had runny nose, sore throat, fatigue and poor appetite. telltale signs of a flu. At 1pm it got worse so i checked my temp. true enough.. my temp was 37.8. I told my teacher but she dint believe me. After school she brought me to the general office to check. i really had fever. I still had to call my dad to inform him and have my form teacher sign a permit to leave school early. She explained to my form teacher: "he was playing with the thermometer during my class. trying to make sure he has a fever. keep demanding to go home. i checked, he really has a fever. so can u sign it for him..." She actually stressed the italic words. She has serious attitude problem, isnt it?
By the time i was finally permitted to leave the school, it was alr 1.50. thats only 10 mins earlier. i walked to the bus stop and i just missed the bus. the next bus took so long to come i actually saw a few other numbers pass by twice. my classmate got to the bus stop before the bus came. I went thru all the trouble for nothing. Infuriating! I spent the rest of the day resting.
july6. Woke up at 6, prepared to go 2 school. I felt fine except for a persistent dizziness. To be sure, i check my temp, and luckily i did, cos it was 38.6. later that morning i went to the doc to get my mc and medecine. my temp was 38.9 then. on the way back it was drizzling and there was strong wind. I was shivering like crazy. my dad told me he hid a set of keys somehwere so i dint bring mine. then i found that the hidden set is of a difrent brand! i was locked outside. I had to borrow my neighbour's phone to call my dad, askin him to come down during his lunch hour to open the door. he said it works, so i tried again. just then some national environment agency ppl came and he helped me open the lock. he did it within a few secs. What a relief. If not for that, either my dad would have to make 2 extra trips and skip his lunch jus to open the door, or i would have to sleep on my neighbour's couch until 7. I spent more than 80% of this day in bed. My fever kept going up and down very fast. Once, my temp was 38.3 and after a sleep it rose to 39.2. twice i had to rush to the toilet to vomit out some vile bitter orange colour fluid and semisolids. Later that night my temp reached a high of 39.6. Just 1.4 degree from going mad and 2.4 degrees away from becoming a vegetable. Extreme torment. I got so dizzy i would faint if i stood up for just 5 secs. I had a small banana for dinner and took my panadol. I fell asleep soon after.
July7. That is, today. I woke up at 7. My shirt, pillow and bedsheet was soaked and reeked of sweat. I have not bathed for more than a day. i checked my temp and to my surprise, it was 37.1! Its such a drastic change within a few hours. I went to school and held out fine. After coming back i had a rest and now here i am, blogging about my miraculous recovery. Indeed, God is good. The only symptoms which remain now is a sore throat and poor appetite. My mom has just safely returned from england also. just in time to meet her in a healthy state. Lastly, my comp is fixed! thats how im blogging now. wow. i spent 1h 30mins writing up this post. what we can learn from this: When all seems wrong, the LORD will make a way out for us! Amen.
